Working with individuals and couples to find meaning and connection in their lives

About Sonia

I have practiced as a psychotherapist for the last twenty years, working with individuals and couples.  I specialize in issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma and life transitions. I believe that when we are more honest and accepting about all the parts of ourselves, we lead more satisfying and productive lives.

I have expertise in psychodynamic psychotherapy, emotion-focused therapy and trauma-informed therapy. I also utilize EMDR and guided imagery in my work. I flexibly use these approaches as they meet the needs of each individual.

I am also the parent of a young adult with autism. For the last ten years, I have been a resource for parents and family members struggling with the challenges of raising a child on the autism spectrum. My services include groups for parents and grandparents; individual, couples and family therapy; and coaching. In addition, I speak and write widely on topics to support those families loving and raising kids with special needs.

Along with my passion for helping family members of children with special needs, I have a particular interest in women’s mental health, chronic health problems and parenting issues.
